Shillong is a hill station and it is also the capital city of  Meghalaya. It is located in northeastern part of India. Shillong is the 330th most populous city in India. it has population of 143,229. 1.Shillong Peak


Shillong Peak is situated 6,449 ft or 1965 m above sea level. Shillong Peak is the highest point of Shillong  we can get a panoramic view of the Shillong city from the top of peak. Telescope facility is also available at Shillong peak.

2. Don Bosco  Centre for Indegineous Culture


Don Bosco Museum provide a glance on cultural lifestyle of the Indegeneous people of North India. Museum also have audio visual show on the top floor 

Opening timing: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Time required: 3 hour To 4 hours 

Entry fee: For Indian Rs 100 for adult and Rs 50 for student and for foreigners Rs 200 for adult and Rs 150 for student

3. Laitlum Canyon


Laitlum Canyon means "end of hills". It is also called "sit valley" by local people of Shillong. It is located at just 45 min drive from the center of Shillong. The best time to visit Laitlum Canyon is during morning hours as by afternoon the place is completely covered by fog.

Opening timing: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM

4. Elephant Falls 


Elephant Falls are named after an Elephant like stone found  at its foot, elephant falls were referred to as "ka kshaid lai pateng khohsiew" by the local people of khasi. elephant falls is located 12 km away from shillong. 


Opening timing: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and closed on sunday

Time required: 1 hour or less

5. Mawjymbuin Cave


Mawjymbuin cave is situated in Mawsynram village which is on the khasi hill of Meghalaya. Mawjymbuin cave was made of calcareous sandstones is 209 metre high. A small streams flows under the eastern portion of this which increases the beauty of cave. 

Opening timing: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Time required: 2 to 3 hours

Entry fee: Rs 20 for adult and Rs 10 for children

6. Umiam Lake


Umiam lake is located 15 km from Shillong. Lake has a park adjoining it which is a hotspot for picnics in summer, the shores are adnorned by beautiful gulmohar trees while in winters, the water level recedes and turns azure.

7. Mary Help for Christians Cathedral


the Cathedral Church of Mary Help of Christians  is the principal place of worship of the Catholics of Shillong Archdiocese and it was built in 1936 by the first Catholic Missionaries to these hills, the Slvatorian fathers from Germany. It was the first Catholic Cathedral Church in what was then the Mission of Assam. 

Opening timing: 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM for all days except Sunday for Sunday 8:00 AM To 6:30 PM

8. Lady Hydari Park


Lady Hydari Park was located in the heart of Shillong city. The first thing you notice as you enter the park is that it is designed in a Japanese garden style. Lady Yydari park is named after the first lady of the area, wife of first governor of Assam.

Opening timing: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed on Monday

Time required: 1 to 2 hours

Entry fee: Rs 10 for adult and Rs 5 for children and senior citizen and Rs 2 for differently abled people

9. Air Force Museum


Air Force Museum is located in the upper Shillong area, this museum has picture of Indo - China war and Indo - Pakistan war on display. The museum has uniforms worn by the air force pilots missiles, rockets and miniature models of air - crafts, along with other exhibits.

Opening timing: winters 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM summers : 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM Break time 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM daily

10. All Saints Cathedral 


All Saints Cathedral is located 2 km away from Shillong. The church was built in 1877 during British rule and was completely damaged in the year 1897 due to an earthquake and later it was reconstructed in 1902. The church was a whole wooden structure and is busiest during Sunday masses.

11. sweet falls


Sweet falls also called Kshaid Weitden  in native language. It lies about 5 km from happy valley it is also termed as the "most dangerous" waterfall in Shillong because it is the source of so many tragic stories. These waterfalls are 315 ft in height. The beauty of the sweet falls is best enjoyed from a distance as there are no barricades for protection.

12. Mawphlang Sacred Forest

Mawphlang sacred forest is located in the Mawphlang village. it is the must see places in Meghalaya in remote Northeast India. The local Khasi tribes have been preserving this forest for thousands of years. This forest has a rich flora that consists of several plants, trees and rare flower species.

13. Mawlynnong


Mawlynnong is a village  in the East Khasi hills district of Shillong in Meghalya state of north east India. Mawlynnong is known for its cleanliness. The waste is collected in the dustbins made of bamboo. The travel maganize Discover India declared the village as the clearest in Asia in 2003, and the cleanest in India in 2005 this increase local tourism.

14. Nohsngithiang Falls



Nohsngithiang falls also known as Seven Sister Waterfalls or Mawsmai falls is located 1 km South of Mawamai village of East Khasi hills district of Shillong, Meghalaya the water falls from a height of 315 m and has an average width of 70 m making it one of the tallest waterfalls in India.

15. Spread Eagle Falls

Spread Eagle Fall is also known as Sati falls or Umkaliar. it is located at distance of 6 km from Shillong Cantonment it is considered to be widest in all of Shillong. This waterfall forms a small pool at the bottom of the waterfall. Due to which one can even treat this spot as a picnic spot.
